From Heartbreak to Hope: Our Growing Widows Ministry

In the wake of the relentless violence sweeping across Northern Nigeria, countless families have been left shattered, grieving the loss of loved ones and struggling to survive. Among the most vulnerable are the widows—women who have watched their husbands brutally murdered, their homes destroyed, and their livelihoods taken away. Many are now left to raise their children alone, facing unimaginable grief, hunger, poverty, and the constant threat of further attacks. These women are more than statistics; they are mothers, grandmothers, and daughters who have endured unimaginable suffering. Yet, even in the midst of their pain, there is hope. Through the love of Christ, we have an opportunity to restore dignity, provide comfort, and remind these precious women that they have not been forgotten. Please watch the video below as one of our widows tells her story and expresses her gratitude for Across Nigeria and all of you who support our mission.
Through our Widows Ministry, Across Nigeria is bringing hope, healing, and compassionate care to women who have lost their husbands to the violence in Northern Nigeria. Three times each month, we gather women from our widow communities to provide biblical teaching, grief counseling, prayer, and spiritual encouragement. We also prepare and serve nutritious meals, distribute much-needed food supplies, and provide medical and dental clinics to address their physical needs. Our mission is not only to ease their suffering but also to restore hope, strengthen their faith, and remind these precious women that they are not forgotten and that the love of Christ is present even in their darkest moments.

Currently, our Widows Ministry gathers in an old chicken barn that we have converted into a makeshift meeting place. While this humble facility has served us well, the growing number of widows seeking care, encouragement, and fellowship has far exceeded its capacity. At each gathering, we are faced with the heartbreaking reality that we simply do not have enough room to accommodate all the women who desperately need our help. What began as a simple place of refuge has become a powerful reminder of the tremendous need for a larger, permanent facility where these precious women can receive the care, dignity, and compassion they deserve.

We are excited to announce the development of our new widow care facility, House of Hope, a place of refuge, healing, and restoration for women who have lost so much to the violence in Northern Nigeria. This much-needed facility will provide a safe and welcoming environment where hundreds of widows can gather for biblical teaching, grief counseling, prayer, nutritious meals, and essential medical and dental care. More than just a building, House of Hope will be a sanctuary where broken hearts can begin to heal, dignity can be restored, and women who have endured unimaginable suffering can experience the love and compassion of Jesus Christ. Our vision is simple: to turn a place of suffering into a House of Hope.

We are thrilled to share that construction preparations for our new House of Hope Widow Care Center are officially underway! This week, our team began clearing the land and preparing the site for this much-needed facility. Next week, we are scheduled to break ground and begin construction, marking an exciting milestone in our mission to bring hope and healing to the widows of Northern Nigeria. What was once only a vision is now becoming a reality, and we are grateful to God and our faithful supporters who are helping make this possible. Soon, this land will become a place of refuge, restoration, and renewed hope for hundreds of precious women.

Thank you for making House of Hope possible. Because of your generosity, compassion, and commitment to our mission, hundreds of widows in Northern Nigeria will soon have a place of refuge, healing, and renewed hope. Your support is doing more than helping us construct a building—it is helping us rebuild shattered lives and demonstrate the love of Christ to women who have endured unimaginable suffering. We are deeply grateful for your partnership and the difference you are making in their lives.
