Light-It-Up Green for the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted

Nov. 1st is the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted (IDOPP)

November 1st—the first Sunday of November—is the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted. This year, we are asking every Across Nigeria supporter, church, and friend to Light It Up Green as a visible show of support for persecuted Christians in northern Nigeria.

Christians in northern Nigeria are facing unimaginable violence and persecution. More Christians are killed for their faith in Nigeria than anywhere else in the world, and many have described the ongoing violence as a “silent genocide.” We believe Christians in America must stand with our persecuted brothers and sisters, raise awareness, pray, and make their voices heard.

Our goal is simple: On November 1st, place a green light bulb in at least one exterior fixture at your home, church, or business and Light It Up Green.

Then take a photo and share it on social media using:

#EndTheGenocide

You can keep your light green for that Sunday, for the entire week, or even throughout the month of November.

Across Nigeria will collect and share these photos with persecuted Christians in northern Nigeria so they can see that Christians around the world are standing with them, praying for them, and refusing to forget them.

Light It Up Green. Pray for the persecuted. Stand with Nigeria’s Christians. Let them know they are not forgotten.

This Will Accomplish Three Important Goals...

1. It reminds persecuted Christians they are not forgotten - Knowing that other believers are praying, speaking out, and standing with them can bring tremendous encouragement.2. It helps to raise awareness in our communities - Visible actions—such as your Light It Up Green campaign—can prompt conversations about persecution that many people otherwise know little about.3. It honors those who have suffered - Remembering victims communicates that their lives, sacrifices, and stories matter.

Here's How You Can Do It..

Three easy steps:

Step 1: Order your green exterior bulbs - Follow this link toAmazon and order the green bulbs that fit the exterior fixtures you're going to use to light it up green.

Step 2: Install your green bulbs - Most of the green bulbs on Amazon are delivered in two days. Once you get your bulbs, install them by Nov. 1st.

Step 3: Share a picture when you light it up green - Take a picture or video of your house, church, or business lit up green. You can either share it on social media and include the hashtag #EndTheGenocide or you can email your photo to us at contact@acrossnigeira.org.

Then, keep it lit up green for the day, the week, or the entire month.

This is an easy and inexpensive way for us to rally around our brother and sisters in Christ, suffering for the gospel.

We're are excited to have you join us as we light it up green for the persecuted in Nigeria.
