Recent Attack Claimed the Lives of Twelve People in a Community We Serve

Updated: 11 hours ago

The relentless violence against Christians throughout northern and central Nigeria continues to claim innocent lives at an alarming rate. Nearly everyday there is a new attack in areas we workin or close by. According to reports, 4,216 Christians were killed between January 1 and September 8, 2026—an average of nearly 17 believers every day. Tragically, the bloodshed has continued into October, with additional deadly attacks reported across Plateau, Benue, and other states. Entire communities remain vulnerable to armed assaults, kidnappings, and displacement, leaving countless families grieving and living in fear. Behind these staggering numbers are mothers, fathers, children, and entire communities whose lives have been forever changed by violence. The suffering continues and the need to help our brothers and sisters in Christ is greater than ever. |
Last week, in a brutal attack, twelve Christians were killed in a village that we serve. In the early morning hours suspected Fulani militants attacked a small village of Christians in eastern Platue State, located in the middle belt of Nigeria. The militants, armed with machetes and guns, entered the village and began their attack. In the aftermath of the attack, twelved were killed and scores were wounded. These attacks often happen in minutes leaving very little chance for people to escape. |
In the immediate in the wake of this horrific attack, Across Nigeria's field agents responded without hesitation, reaching out to surviors and grieving families with compassion, comfort, and urgently needed assistance. Amid the devastation, our team worked to help with medical care, bring hope to those who had lost loved ones, suffered injuries, or been left with nothing. Our presence is always a powerful reminder to these suffering Christians that they have not been forgotten or abandoned. Even in the darkest moments, Across Nigeria remains committed to standing alongside the persecuted, demonstrating the love of Christ through compassionate action. Thanks to all of you for being an essential part of the help and assistance we bring. |
The devastating attacks against Christians in northern Nigeria cannot be measured by the death toll alone. Behind every life lost are countless others left to suffer—men, women, and children bearing the physical and emotional scars of unimaginable violence. Children are left orphaned, wives become widows, husbands lose their wives, and families are shattered by the loss of loved ones. Many survivors face a lifetime of pain, disability, grief, and uncertainty. The true tragedy extends far beyond those who have been killed, reaching into the lives of countless survivors who must struggle to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of unspeakable suffering. |
We are asking Christians everywhere to join us in fervent prayer for the victims and families devastated by this horrific attack in northern Nigeria. Pray for those mourning the loss of loved ones, for the children who have lost their parents, for grieving widows, and for those suffering from painful injuries. Ask God to comfort the brokenhearted, heal the wounded, and bring peace to those living in fear. Pray for His divine protection over vulnerable Christian communities and for an end to the relentless violence. In their darkest hour, may our persecuted brothers and sisters know they are not forgotten, that they are deeply loved, and that the body of Christ stands with them in prayer.
